Windows Vista Not Responding
When one gets a message on the screen of the computer and it reads, ‘Microsoft Windows Operating System is not responding’ and beneath it one is given two options to choose from, one is to close the program or the other one is to wait for the program to respond.
There is no guarantee that the program will respond after one chooses the option of waiting for the program to respond and if one chooses to end the program, all the data that he or she was working on will be lost in the process. When one gets a Windows Vista not responding error, when the functions of this operating system are not functioning properly, it may be because a file, the Windows Resource Protection file (WRP) is corrupt or missing, hence the ‘Windows Vista not Responding’ message. To solve this problem, one needs to use the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe) which is used to determine which file is causing this disturbance and then replace the file. This is done so by using the System File Checker tool.
If for some reason the Windows stops running and freezes giving out the error message, look and check if it is running with another program. Some programs use a high memory when being used in any version therefore causing a Windows Vista not responding error. The most common of these programs is the web browsers. Browsers like IE, FireFox, and AOL are some of the browsers that can make the Windows Vista not responding error. This is so as the use a lot of memory when being used in Vista. The Microsoft Windows Explorer is also no exception. It can also make the program not to respond, hence there is the need to upgrade the memory. But one may find that most the memory even with a high RAM of 2GB the system still is slow. In this case, the machine might have been an upgrade and not a clean install. When one upgrades the system, some bad drivers are carried forward which are incompatible and this is what is slowing up the system. What should be done is to make a back-up of the items one needs and do a fresh install.
It is also suggested that when one has a problem and needs to install Vista again, there is a command-line tool called Bootrec that can be used instead. In terms of repairing nettlesome start-up issues, it is more powerful.
